Flintshire Historical Society have announced their February meeting to be held on 22nd February with a talk by Ken Pye about the Titanic.

Exhibition of finds and other material
A selection of material from a significant archaeological site recently excavated at Bryneglwys, Denbighshire.
The ritual monument developed over a long period of time, although the major phase of activity was within the early Bronze Age.
Deposits of cremated bone were made, often accompanied by pottery sherds and, in some cases, flint tool.
The investigation of the ring cairn arose from the curiosity of the landowner and was undertaken by the Clwydian Range Archaeology Group (CRAG).
Excavation of the ring cairn has been completed although work continues on analysing and recording the findings from the investigation and on exploring the wider landscape.
The display shares some of the early findings with people living in the area for whom this is part of their cultural heritage.

Bangor University Course
Building on the interest in Bangor History’s ‘College on the Hill’ event for the University’s 140th Anniversary, this course explores different aspects of the history and heritage of north Wales. Our historians and archaeologists are passionate experts in their field of study, and the course is designed to introduce some of the more contested aspects of local and community history.
Across four weeks, participants will explore:
- The Castles of Wales: Past and Present (with Dr Euryn Roberts)
- Country Houses and the Welsh landscape (with Dr Shaun Evans/Dr Lowri Ann Rees)
- Sandcastles and Sunny Rhyl (with Dr Mari Wiliam)
- Past, Present and Future: The changing uses of Welsh slate Quarries (with Dr Leona Huey)
